Jeff Wang
Instructur, Arbutus College

Jeff Wang’s teaching career is built upon his solid academic research experience at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the Center for European Studies (CES) of Harvard University. It was here that he developed his interest and focus on computer & computer network, the Internet & IoT, AI & ML technology, and digital society & business. Jeff’s educational credentials include a bachelor’s degree in law from Peking University, an LL.M. from Peking University, and an MBA from International Technological University in the USA.

He further diversified his skill set with diplomas in computer applications, web development, e-commerce, and translation, earned at Canadian institutions such as Algonquin College and Simon Fraser University. Jeff is a dynamic educator with a rich and diverse background and work experience in different industries, spanning three countries: China, the USA, and Canada. His teaching experience spans postgraduate, University, and college levels. His contributions cover a wide range of subjects, from Microsoft Office applications to social media marketing and business mathematics (currently at Arbutus), as well as various other subjects at different educational institutions, such as marketing, digital marketing, advertising, management, law, and economics, reflecting his dedication to providing students with a well-rounded education enriched by real-world experience.

Jeff’s teaching philosophy transcends textbooks, as he generously shares his industry experience with students. His unique ability to bridge theory and practice equips students with the skills needed for success in their professional endeavors.  Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, Jeff is a fossil collector, a piano aficionado, and a web blogger.

Go Yanagisawa
Instructur, Arbutus College

Go Yanagisawa blends language expertise and academic achievement as a foundational member of the Arbutus College faculty. Through rich and varied courses ranging from Translation to Business English, Go is committed to imparting valuable skills to students.

Go’s professional journey is grounded in his proficiency as a Japanese/English translator and interpreter. His academic foundation in Communication Studies, with a focus on organizational communication, has equipped him with the communication skills vital for success in today’s globalized world.

Etsuko Yamanouchi
Sessional Instructur, Arbutus College

Etsuko Yamanouchi, a Sessional Instructor at Arbutus College, brings a wealth of experience and academic depth to her role. With a repertoire of courses spanning interpreting and translation along with a profound understanding of the nuances between Japanese and English, Etsuko is dedicated to nurturing language and communication skills in her students.

Etsuko’s career spans over three decades as a professional interpreter, providing her with invaluable insights into the world of language and communication. Her academic journey includes a Master’s degree in Sociology of Education from UBC, which further enriches her teaching with a comprehensive understanding of the broader educational context.

Arbutus College is a hub of passionate and internationally focused educators, and Etsuko underscores this hallmark of the institution. Her dedication to helping students bridge the gap in their language and communication skills prepares students to thrive in the global economy. Etsuko empowers her students to understand language and the cultural nuances and practical applications essential in today’s interconnected world.

Etsuko has a vibrant writing career. She has contributed articles and essays to Japanese newspapers and magazines, and her book, “Akiramenai Eiga,” delves into her life’s work of interpreting at YIDFF, Asia’s first documentary film festival.

Her passion for helping students bridge language gaps and her ability to foster meaningful discussions contribute to the inclusive academic experience at Arbutus College. Etsuko’s multifaceted career and writing achievements exemplify the diverse opportunities available to students seeking to expand their horizons at Arbutus College.
